UK Motorcyclists
visit Normandy
In early September 2015 a party of thirteen people from Section
UK’s Motorcycle Group enjoyed 4 days in Normandy, based at a very
comfortable Ibis hotel in Honfleur, a picturesque port just south of
Le Havre.
The location was selected so that members could visit WW2 invasion sites,
including the beaches used in June 1944, museums, cemeteries and
the famous Pegasus Bridge in Ranville where the strategically important
crossing point was seized by the British occupants of 3 gliders early on the
morning of 6 June.
Engaging though Honfleur is, the port is too far to the east to be an ideal
base from which to explore the Normandy Battlefield area. Caen or Bayeux
would be better.
However, this minor inconvenience was no barrier to the Group’s enjoyment
and we made good progress in fine weather. Time was found to sample the
wine and good food available and hopefully the Group’s next major foreign
excursion to the Black Forest in summer 2016 will be well supported.

Sean McMahon
from
Central Belfast
Branch
is seeking
assistance in
setting up
an Americal
Football Club.
In an email to Section UK - IPA
HQ, Sean writes, ‘I am a member
of the IPA and I am also the club
secretary of a newly formed
American Football Club within the Police Service of
Northern Ireland (PSNI).
Our team is made up of police officers and police staff within the PSNI.
American Football has been a growing sport in Ireland however many of
our players have never played before. We are reaching out to the wider
police family for assistance in setting up our club. We have recently
enrolled the team into the Irish American Football Association, a civilian
based league, which we hope to compete competitively in, with other
Irish teams this year. Could we ask that you circulate this around your
members or even post on your forum a message seeking support.’
IPA members can contact Sean direct on

Good Luck Team Section UK!
11 Region Calling
11 Region have been experiencing high levels of returned e-mails
owing to incorrect addresses. A high proportion of these are Police
E-Mail addresses. Please consider changing your police e-mail
address to your personal one.
At its half yearly meeting last Autumn, Regional delegates agreed that,
in future, E-mail addresses which fail more than twice would be deleted
from that member’s details.
We are mindful that we should not discriminate against those members
who do not have access to a computer. Therefore, if there is a family
member or friend who is willing to accept mail on their behalf 11 Region
will send it to that address.
Failing this we would ask members to send to their respective Branch
Secretary four self stamped addressed envelopes. The Secretaries
would then, on a quarterly basis, send out news of Branch and Region
activities.
Tom Witney,
11 Region Secretary
Section UK President, Mick Luke, has rallied
a team of footballers to compete in an
Indoor Football Tournament in Warsaw to
represent Section UK and to help Section
Poland commemorate the memory of a
Polish police officer. The event will take
place between 10 - 13 February 2016.
Another good member benefit from the IPA as all
accommodation and meals in Poland are provided.
