The Gazette of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland.

[MARCH, '-1912

It will be remembered that the Council,

in their last Report, called attention to the

loss suffered by Vendors in the Land Com

mission Court on

the allocation of

the

purchase money of their estates, owing to the

enforced realisation of Immature Stock, and

the Report stated that the Council had made

representations to the Treasury suggesting a

regulation under which

Immature Stock

might be immediately converted into Mature

Stock when sold by Order of the Land

Commission.

In the above Rule Immature Stock

is

described as

" stock bearing a

fractional

dividend," and the effect of the Rule is to

carry out the suggestion of the Society.

Under the practice which obtained before

the new Rule was made, it is estimated that

the loss to the Vendor of an estate averaged

about 1 per cent, on the amount of Immature

Stock sold.

The new regulation, therefore,

is of great advantage to such Vendors as

agree to take the purchase moneys of their

estates in all stock, or in part stock and part

cash under the Act of 1903, and to all Vendors

who sell under the Act of 1909.
