community building ideas! Here

are some of the ways in which

the City of Surrey empowers

Surrey residents to build

community:

Neighbourhood Enhancement Grant

for financial support for your project!

All Surrey residents, community

groups, businesses and associations

can apply.

Drop in to a

Nature Work Party

Drop in on Saturday afternoons and

work alongside other nature lovers to

help enhance habitat for wildlife and

care for our urban forest. Get outside

to remove invasive plants, plant trees

and shrubs and more. Meet new

people, earn volunteer hours, and

give back to your community. Nature

Work Parties are open to volunteers

of all ages (parental supervision

required for volunteers under 13 years

of age). All tools, instructions, and

refreshments provided.

No application required, get

started right away by contacting

environment@surrey.ca

or call

604-501-5158 for dates and

Tree Planting Program

Help grow the urban forest this April

by planting a shade tree. Gather your

neighbours, your class or community

group and give us a call to make a

request to plant trees in a park or on

a boulevard near you! Releaf is free,

and all equipment and instruction

is provided. Due to the large size

of the trees, children 10 and up are

welcome. Or, drop in and join us at an

all ages Neighborhood Tree Party on

Wednesday evenings!

To learn how to get involved, call

us at 604-501-5158 or email us at

environment@surrey.ca

. Space is

limited, so call early to reserve

your spot!
