Future-proofed

modular patch panels

Nexans, France, has launched a range of

LANsense upgradeable modular patch

panels, in response to a growing demand

for more flexible solutions, that enable

the transfer to intelligent network systems

at any stage during the development

cycle. The range is suited to applications

where IIM may not be considered an

immediate requirement, but enables future

implementation.

The new panels meet the same

functionality and flexibility standards as

the company’s current range of modular

panels, but also offer a unique future-

proofing feature with an interchangeable

front. The standard front plate can be

upgraded to a LANsense PCB plate

without removing or re-terminating the

existing cabling. The upgraded front plate

is equipped with a detection contact to

each cabling port and an I/O connector,

enabling the panel to be linked to the

LANsense system.

PTFE films and tapes

DeWAL Industries, USA, supplies high-

performance PTFE films and tapes

to the wire and cable industry. The

company’s skived PTFE is used for its

high temperature resistance, dielectric

strength and low friction. Virgin or

conductive, and as thin as 0.013mm, it is

often used in aerospace, power and high

flex cable applications.

DeWAL’s unsintered PTFE is used primarily

as insulation and outer jacketing for wire

and cable at temperatures up to 246°C,

from 0.038mm to 0.508mm, and with

a density of 1.5g/cc. The company has

developed a complete line of vibrant,

RoHS-compliant colours, and can add

other fillers to meet the requirements of

highly engineered wire and cable.

The company has also developed

technology to manufacture high tensile,

low density film – as low as 0.4g/cc. These

films are used to wrap primary wires

in high flex cable, and other products

in this family were developed to meet

demanding coaxial cable applications,

where low signal loss is critical. DeWAL

uses a proprietary process to laminate its

fluoropolymer films.

Delisi Srl, Italy, produces automatic straightening and cutting machines for smooth

and ribbed wires from 1mm to 20mm diameter.

When a new diameter is required, the grooves of the rolls are positioned, using

a handwheel, at the new diameter. Upon slackening three bolts, changing the

straightening unit and tightening three

bolts, the new diameter is programmed.

The spinner works at a lower speed, as

the jaws have longer contact with the

wire, resulting in high production and

reduced noise. An electronic programmer

and one or three lines of pneumatically

tilt-able arms can be supplied with rod

collection bed. 99 different lengths

and 99 different quantities can be

programmed and collected separately in

one of the lines of tilt-able arms, without

stopping the machine.

New blender added to the range

Process Control Corporation, a supplier of gravimetric blending equipment, continues

to expand its series of low cost, highly accurate line of gravimetric batch blenders with

the addition of an 18kg blender.

With an increased number of higher throughput extrusion lines being installed,

especially sheet extrusion lines, PCC recognised the need for a higher rate blender.

In response to this demand, PCC engineers designed the 18kg size Guardian batch

blender, available with up to 12 individual ingredient hoppers with throughput rates of

more than 5,000 PPH.

The blender can be configured with a 4-component, 6-component, 8-component and

up to 12-component multi-hopper design. Each of the individual material hoppers can

run from 0-100% of the recipe.

The customer does not have to dedicate low rate or high rate ingredients to certain

hoppers. The blender can also be supplied with a regrind feeder for feeding difficult to

flow flake and/or regrind type materials or a powder feeder for non-flowable powder

type materials.
