SCREEN PRINTING PRESSES
Kornit: Paradigm II
“Kornit’s Paradigm II was the first digital add-on solution in the market, specif-
ically engineered to give screen printers the ability to print digitally on textile,”
says Oliver Luedtke of Kornit. “Leveraging existing screen printing equipment, the
Paradigm II combines the benefits of digital and screen printing, resulting in a
cost- and time-efficient solution for sophisticated printing on any fabric.”
According to Oliver, the Paradigm II is highly profitable, bringing together
analogue and digital and combining low cost per print with unlimited creative
possibilities. “Such combination prints enable unique products and higher mar-
gins,” he explains.
The Paradigm II system is compatible with almost any screen carousel and
can be easily moved from one carousel to another. “Based on Kornit’s 13 years
of experience as a manufacturer of digital printing systems and inks, the print
quality is high with outstanding fastness and wash durability,” says Oliver. For
the underbase, customers may use discharge, primer or International Coating’s
white plastisol.

Roq: Hybrid
According to Nuno Venda of Roq, those demanding jobs
that you need to think two or three times before accepting
will become easy jobs with the Roq Hybrid. “With the Roq
Hybrid you can combine the best of two worlds: the glitter,
foil, 3-D etcetera from screen printing with the precision of
colours, high resolution and huge colour gamut from digital
printing and all with a great hand feel,” he explains.
The Roq Hybrid can be supplied with eight (CMYK) or 12
(CMYK+2) Fujifilm Dimatix print heads. One of the reasons
that Roq chose the Fujifilm Dimatix print head is because it
is possible to repair the nozzles, says Nuno, giving the print heads
a longer
lifespan. “But above all, these print heads represent the future of this technology,” he com-
ments.
The Roq Hybrid offers a maximum printing size of 500 x 700 mm or 750 x 900 mm.
To partner with the Roq Hybrid, Roq also has a new line of digital inks and products as well
the Roq Studio – a RIP software powered by Neostampa.

MHM Direct GB: iQ-Digital
“In our opinion, all attempts to combine digital modules with screen printing ma-
chines up to now have failed in delivering a satisfying performance, especially in
terms of production speeds,” says John Potter of MHM Direct GB. “With MHM’s
rich heritage as an industry pioneer, we rose to this challenge and decided to
embark on a new path to find and create a viable solution: the revolutionary
MHM iQ-Digital.”
According to John, this is “the first and only hybrid machine which can com-
pete in both fields”. He reports that whether the MHM iQ-Digital is used purely as
a digital machine or combined with screen printing, “incredible production rates
up to 1100 shirts per hour are no longer just a dream”. Foiling, flocking and spe-
cial effects on the same machine at the same time are possible, and pre-treat-
ment, pre-printed white underbases and discharge inks are all a reality. “With the
new MHM iQ-Digital you enter a new world of unlimited options,” he says.
Printing on both sides of the oval, the MHM iQ-Digital bridge can personalise
two garments in one high-speed pass. “Extremely fast low and high quantity pro-
duction runs are realised by using the proven digital technology of Ricoh print
heads along with the proven reliability of the MHM iQ-Oval and, with a maxi-
mum print area of 63 x 120 cm, the MHM iQ-Digital is the first hybrid solution for
true high-volume and high-quality textile printing,” John concludes.
