Pre Radiotherapy Process
Dental Review Extractions + Oral Hygiene
All Pts require dental examination if irradiating salivary glands /
mandible
Complex oral-dental programme including:
– Clinical evaluation of the mucosa, gingiva, + teeth
– X-ray alveolar bony structure+teeth (Orthopantogram)
Dental care or extraction prior to start of RT
Fluoride prophylaxis against dental caries to reduce risk of
osteoradionecrosis
