SAFETY LEADER ROLE, SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS
Role of the Safety Leader
Spend an average of five hours per month on Safety meetings,
calls and trainings
Attend monthly Safety Leader homeroom calls
Work closely with facility management
Follow all directives, policies and procedures in maintaining
a safe working environment
Coordinate at least one teammate safety in-service training per month
Maintain Safety Committee Meeting minutes, in-service forms and
reports regarding safety in the facility; make copies available upon
request to Teammate Safety Managers
Organize monthly patient safety education
Report all work-related injuries and any safety hazards or defective
equipment to Facility Administrator/Designee in charge
Attend training programs to gain general knowledge in:

OSHA standards and requirements
•
Investigating a report of injury or illness
•
Participating in general inspections
•
Life safety codes inspection
•
Leading a safety committee meeting
