NCYC Regular Meeting Minutes

Commodore’s Comments:

Commodore, Chuck Stroh

Welcome to the July NCYC Board meeting. The year is progressing very quickly and there is no sign that

it will slow down. We need to be sure that we in this room remain role models for the membership.

Please make every effort to attend the Friday night dinners so that we continue to have the viability to

have a caterer in the future and also please attend the NCYC events to show our support for our club

and the hard that work our voltmeters do for us.

Thank you,

Vice Commodore’s Comments:

Vice Commodore, Pat Carroll

Tonight, we as a board, will have to decide how to handle several disciplinary actions, whether as a

singular or group event. All I ask is that we look at all of the information presented to us, and make our

decision based on what is fair to all involved. I am not saying we should not hold members accountable

for their actions, I am saying that we should hold all of those accountable for their actions.

Rear Commodore’s Comments:

Rear Commodore, Randy Pagel

I helped out at the Water Warriors event Wednesday, June 29th at the Club. A good time was had by all

who participated. We had a lot of support from Club members which made it easier for the Weekday

manager.

It was a great 4

th

of July weekend at NCYC. The weather was great. Diane French put together a great 4

th

of July barbecue for the membership. Look forward to the Ray Fogg concert coming up Friday night,

July 8

th

, hope all of you are able to attend.

Member visit to the board:

One of our NCYC members was requested to appear before the board for a procedural second step

hearing relative to a violation of Club policy regarding the member’s behavior during the memorial

weekend. After a series of back and forth discussions and comments from the board and the member,

the member took full responsibility for his actions, regretted his actions and apologized to the board.

The board deliberated and a motion was put forth to accept the member apology

Motion: Ian Blackburn Seconded: Kim Miedema Motion Carried

P/C Tom McHugh:

P/C Tom McHugh addressed the Board concerning his thoughts on the use of social media as it relates to

club business and activities. He would like to see all communications upbeat and positive concerning

the club and our members. That if a member had an issue that they would allow the Board to do their

jobs and address those issues internally. He further wanted to communicate that all members are equal

in our club. That although we are one club, we naturally like to hang with those that we are closest

to. That fact does not change that we are one club. We need to continue to respect each other and

bridge any divides to drive one club socially. Any negative comments will only serve to drive wedges

which is not the way to support our club.
