Sector Outlook

Over two million people are employed in a variety of business administration

roles but due to the impact of technology in the work place the sector is

projected to see a loss of almost 400,000 jobs.

According to job search engine JobisJob the past 12 months has seen

already seen a gradual decline in the number of business administration

vacancies available but companies such as Knowledge, Spirit Resourcing

and Grey Seal Recruitment are among the top companies hiring for the

sector with the greatest number of job opportunities being on offer with

the National Apprenticeship Service.

More vacancies are available in the south of England so you should find

more opportunity if you are prepared to move. However, new businesses

are appearing in the north around cities such as Manchester and Sheffield.

Large firms such as the supermarket ASDA, hair product company GHD

and electronic games publisher Rockstar have also taken the decision to

locate their head offices to Leeds.

Another bit of good news is that if you are prepared to develop your skills

to a higher level, you will have a better chance of finding the job you want.

In fact employment opportunities for people who can offer additional skills

such as customer care, ICT or knowledge of a language are predicated to

rise. In contrast employees with a low level of skill are likely to experience

job cuts in large organisations such as the Health Service.

Overall the sector is large enough to continue providing a significant

number of jobs especially for employees who are willing to use the

implementation of new technology to work remotely.
