AUGUST 2014
JB HI-FI
www.jbhifi.com.auDragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods
F
ollowing on from the now legendaryTV
series, Season 7 of which is released
on Blu-ray this month,
Dragon Ball Z:
Battle of Gods
turns things up to 11 with the
introduction of an all-new threat: Beerus. Sure,
he sounds like God of Ale but he’s actually the
biggest threat to the universe and can only be
stopped by the one and only Goku.
One of the classics gets a spit and polish
and its very first Blu-ray release:
Ninja Scroll
(Remastered) is one of the craziest, bloodiest
and most action-packed films in anime history.
If you’re a fan of
Akira
and
Ghost in the
Shell
,
Ninja Scroll
should be right there
on the shelf next to them.
Speaking of classics, celebrating a
quarter century since the release of Shirow
Masamune’s seminal manga series,
Ghost in the Shell 25th Anniversary
Edition
is remastered on beautiful Blu-ray
and contains a collectors booklet. Arguably
one of the greatest anime movies and most
influential films of its time,
Ghost in the Shell
is another classic series which holds up
incredibly well considering its vintage.
Not only is
Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist
an awesome slugfest which pays homage
to the greatest fighting game of all time, it’s
also a success story in its own right. After
creating a short film based on the franchise,
Joey Ansah and Christian Howard were
officially give the go ahead by Capcom
to make a 12-episode series which has in
turn been cut into a full-length feature film.
These guys kick JCVD and Kylie Minogue’s
butt… just sayin’.
Based upon the massively successful
Platinum Games series,
Bayonetta: Bloody
Fate
tells the story of the witch Bayonetta,
who finds herself at the bottom of a lake
after sleeping for half a millennia. She
embarks on a gorgeous Gonzo animated
journey to find out who she is. If you’ve liked
the Bayonetta games, or even if you haven’t,
this film is a fantastic, visual treat.
One of the most popular series of recent
times,
Puella Magi Madoka Magica:
Movies 1 & 2
hit shelves and they’re every
bit as sweet, innocent, messed-up and
harrowing as the series. In fact, the films
are a condensed retelling of the series.
So if you’ve wanted to watch the series but
simply don’t have the time, now you have
no excuse. Embrace the madness.
Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates
are back in
One Piece Film Z
.The Z in this case
relates to former Marine Admiral ‘Z’, a madman
who has stolen the Marines’ Dyna Stones,
devices of ultimate destruction which threaten
the very existence of the NewWorld. All the
fun of theTV series, wrapped in glorious
feature film production values.
The end is nigh.
Hellsing UltimateVolume
3
brings about the ultimate conclusion to
the ultimate retelling of the ultimate vampire
series. Is that ultimate enough for you?
Alucard and Seras Victoria are back to their
Nazi killing best in this R-rated splatterfest.
A Certain Magical Index II: Part 1
is what
we get when science and magic meet. When
the potentially destructive Book of the Law is
stolen, Kamijo and Index combine to protect
a nun – the only person who can decode
the cipher – from holy assassins. With great
animation by JC Staff,
A Certain Magical Index
II
is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.
A Certain Scientific Railgun – Season 2:
Part 1
&
2
takes us back to Academy
City with the master of electricity, Mikoto
Misaka, who must destroy a sadistic killer
in order to protect clones of herself.
But what she discovers along the way
will change everything.
