Middle East success from
exhibitions to ships
The Middle East features heavily in the news in this issue of Wire &
Cable ASIA .
The first staging of Metal Middle East in Dubai earlier this year proved
a successful debut show, with more than 3,500 visitors attending at
the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center. You can
catch all the details on page 8.
Saudi Arabia is also in the headlines with Swiss cable specialist
Reichle and De-Massari opening a new production facility in the
capital Riyadh. See page 12.
Bahra Cables has signed a contract for the supply of low and medium
voltage cables to Hyundai Heavy Industries at the Jeddah South
thermal power plant. The full story is on page 14.
Copper is also providing approximately $1 billion to the UAE’s trade
surplus as it lies in fifth global place for export, just $5m behind the
USA copper exports. See page 16 for full details.
And E-Marine, a provider of submarine cable installation and repair
solutions in the Middle East, has unveiled ambitious plans to expand
its fleet of ships this year, with the CS Maram beginning dock trials
