June 28, 1978

Draft Order entitled —

Double Taxation Relief- (Taxes on Estates of Deceased

Persons and Inheritance and on Gifts) (United Kingdom)

Order, 1978

Dear Sir,

You might like to know that the above draft Order

which had been laid before Dail Eireann on 15 June,

1978, was approved last night.

The remaining steps to lead to ratification of a

convention are now in train.

As you know, the provision for giving unilateral relief

in section 67 of the Capital Acquisitions Tax Act, 1976,

ensure that, in effect, relief in accordance with the

proposed convention is already being given, so that

taxpayers are not in the meantime being prejudiced.

Yours sincerely,

G. E. P. JOHNSTON
