Officers of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland 1978/79
Mr. Gerald Hickey
Mr. Gerald Hickey, Solicitor, has been elected
President of The Incorporated Law Society of Ireland for
the year 1978/79.
Mr. Hickey is Chairman of Hickey Beauchamp
Kirwan & O'Reilly, Solicitors, Dublin.
He is also Chairman of Solus Teoranta, Bray, Co.
Dublin, and is a Director of New Ireland Assurance
Company Limited, The Industrial Credit Company
Limited and other Companies.
Mr. Walter Beatty, the new Senior Vice-President, was
educated at Xavier's School, Donnybrook, and obtained
a B.A. Degree in University College, Dublin, in 1953. He
was admitted in Easter Term 1955 and has been
practising since with the firm of Vincent & Beatty. He
was auditor of the Solicitors' Apprentices' Debating
Society 1953/54. He was first elected to the Council in
1967 and was appointed a notary public in 1969.
Mr. William B. Allen has been elected Junior Vice
President of the Society for the year 1978/9. Mr. Allen
was educated in Galway at St. Ignatius College and St.
Joseph's College. He was admitted in Michaelmas 1945
and was first elected to the Council in 1970.
He is the senior partner of MacDermott & Allen,
Solicitors, Galway.
