f you’ve invested in
Hyrule Warriors
on the Wii U, you
may wish to look away now... OK 3DS people, now that
they’ve gone we can give you the brilliant news. The ace
collision of
The Legend of Zelda
and
Dynasty Warriors
where all manner of beloved characters go the biff has
not only been shoehorned onto the portable system,
but it also comes with all the original DLC, two entire
new chapters and the ability to switch between characters on the fly.
Then there are the new playable characters, including a female riff on
Link, Linkle. She’s really going to confuse those who for some reason
still think that Link is Zelda...

Last year’s phenomenally brutal – but insanely fun -
mince ’em up
Mortal Kombat X
is back, and it’s been
supersized. No, Scorpion, Raiden, and their 56 or so
acquaintances haven’t been hitting the local KFC hard;
rather every additional character and skin pack has
been gathered together with the game on one shiny
round thing that you can poke into your chosen games
system. If you were an early adopter who’s dropped a
small fortune on DLC then you’ll likely want to nut punch whoever’s
responsible for this, but if you’ve been biding your time then you’re a
winner, because X – now XL - is by far the best Mortal Kombat yet.

Ifyou’ve had enough trouble getting your head around
all this Pokémon stuff (really, after all these years?)
then this one just may break your brain. The ‘gotta
catch ’em all’ world of cute and fluffy – but often lethal
–runs smack bang into famed fighting game Tekken,
and the results are, well, much as you might expect.
Yes,
Pokkén Tournament
is a home version of the
arcade bash smash that allows you to let loose your Pokéthingies on
each other. While it embraces the arena battle vibe of Tekken, it isn’t
as technically complicated (some of those combos – yikes!), allowing
Pokéfans of any age to get right in on the Pokéclobberin’.

Rings are like SO last century! The Octagon is where it’s
at now, and this new UFC outing from sports maestros
EA is the best way to get in on the action this side of
risking serious ouchiness for real. A mass of new game
modes have been shoehorned in, along with an impressive
roster of both chick and bloke fighters that boasts both
current and former stars – plus the odd ringer such as ear-
chomping legend Mike Tyson and, with some work, the
king of martial arts, Bruce Lee. With more stunning characterisation than
ever, tweaked controls and a shiny new physics engine,
UFC 2
is... wait
for it... a knockout! (Try the chicken, we’ll be here all week.)
