The
Armstrong Lie
, the documentary
about Lance Armstrong, said that
he saw DavidWalsh as the Van
Helsing to Armstrong’s Dracula…
CHRIS O’DOWD:
I’ll take that and
I’m sure David would love that, too.
And I think Stephen [Frears, director
of
The Program
] does that very well
in the film, too, where you do feel
like these guys are in competition
in some way, one for trophies and
egomania and the other potentially
for the truth, and maybe for his
own egomania, who knows? But
they are quite the pair and in those
press conferences where Lance
quite deliberately put David down,
admonished him and embarrassed
him, you could see the tension
and... I don’t want to say the word
hatred... but you could see that
there was a genuine dislike of each
other for a long time.
Although best known for his comedy roles, Chris O’Dowd
plays journalist DavidWalsh – the man who exposed
the Lance Armstrong doping scandal – in
The Program.
The Irish actor says he wouldn’t have taken on the part
without Walsh’s seal of approval.
