During World War II, the U.S. government “relocated” many Japanese Americans to internment
camps; because the United States was also at war with Japan, many Americans did not trust
Americans with Japanese ancestry. Basketball, the all-American sport, was a part of camp life.
This game between girls’ teams was played in a relocation center in Wyoming in 1944.
