The Solicitors' Mutual Defence Fund has grown substantially in the eight years since it was
formed and now provides professional indemnity cover for the majority of Irish Solicitors.
Unlike commercial insurers, who base premiums on the general claims experience across the
professional indemnity spectrum, the Fund bases contributions on the claims experience of
solicitor members only.
