If a positive test for the use of alcohol, a controlled substance or prescription medication is confirmed, you may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination and, if applicable, must agree to random, unannounced testing as a condition of continued employment. Any subsequent substance abuse violations by you are grounds for immediate termination of employment. If a positive test result is disputed, you may request that a portion of the sample be sent to another lab for testing at your own expense, but only at an ICMA‑RC-approved National Institute for Drug Abuse laboratory. Any associate who fails to submit to a test within the prescribed period will be terminated immediately. ICMA‑RC reserves the right to require applicants for employment to be tested for substance abuse as part of the application process. Rehabilitation ICMA‑RC supports associates who want to overcome substance abuse problems. If you have a self-identified substance abuse problem, you may be required, at ICMA‑RC’s discretion, to enter a qualified treatment program as a condition of continued employment. An associate may not avoid discipline or discharge for poor performance or violation of ICMA‑RC policy by subsequently self-identifying as having a substance abuse problem. Available Resources Upon request, ICMA‑RC will make every effort to provide associates with information about drug and alcohol abuse awareness and rehabilitation. Human Resources will serve as a confidential resource for any associate needing additional information or assistance in securing treatment. In addition, ICMA‑RC’s benefits package includes access to 24-hour counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This confidential program can assist you and/or your family members in coping with substance abuse problems. The EAP provides guidance through licensed, trained professionals skilled in handling chemical and alcohol dependency issues. INCLEMENT WEATHER AND EMERGENCY SITUATIONS Under normal circumstances, ICMA‑RC is open for business any day that the New York Stock Exchange is open. However, unusual circumstances such as inclement weather, natural disaster, power outage, local mandate or other circumstances may require ICMA‑RC to assess its ability to conduct normal business operations. Our decisions in these circumstances will be based on our ability to maintain critical business functions and serve our clients, and in consideration of our associates’ safe travel to and from work. Corporate Decisions and Announcements In the event that severe weather or other emergency develops overnight, ICMA‑RC will decide whether the corporate office will be open or closed and whether or not paid leave will be granted, and whether “Casual Day” is being declared. This decision will be made by the CEO. In the absence of the CEO, the decision will be made by the head of Human Resources or one or more members of the ICMA‑RC Leadership Team.
