WILSON STAFF: TRITON DRIVER

The Buzz You gotta hand it to the folks at Wilson Golf. They’ve done something that hasn’t yet been done in our industry. They found a way to bring the growing trend of crowd sourcing to the golf equipment industry, more specifically to golf club design. In an effort to generate some excitement around their brand and push the envelope of club design they put out an open call to anyone that had an idea for the game’s next great driver. Thousands of ideas were sub- mitted, narrowed to 6 and those designers were invited to work with Wilson engineers to further develop their varying concepts. Over the several months Wilson’s panel of judges put the concepts through the ringer and eventual- ly selected the winner, the Wilson Staff Triton designed by Cincinnati’s very own Eric Sillies. The entire process was televised on the Golf Channel over the course of seven episodes called Driver vs. Driver. If you didn’t catch them live you can view them here.

The Technology The Triton is packed with some proven and a lot of brand new technologies. Here’s a list: • 1:1 Visible Swing Active Technology which features an alignment aid on the crown. • Changeable Sole Plates, one Titanium and one Carbon which are intended to alter the driver’s launch and spin. • 5 Moveable weights create 18 unique combinations to adjust shot trajecto- ry high or low and draw or fade. • Adjustable hosel has three neutral loft settings and three draw bias loft settings.

The Performance Below you’ll see find the results with each of the two sole plates. Our initial opinion is very positive. The Wilson Staff Triton is available to demo at any of the NGBA locations, so come see what a movie star can do for your game!
