AUGUST 2018 BEACON

I'm always fond of the Club photos like the cover because I think the people seen through the windows say it all. I hope you like it too. I'm pleased and proud to announce that among this months Members of the Month, we have our first ever Junior Member inducted into the coveted Fraternity. And what would a 2018 Beacon be without a correction to the Anchor Awards of a previous month? So we have one, again. You'll also see a page featuring our Member and Grounds Keeper, Tom Stackpoole. Not only does he keep or property looking like a manicured garden oasis, he entertains all present in the bar when he's done for the day. We got to laughing out loud about some of the classic "Tomisms" and we wanted to celebrate his wit, wisdom, and humor. It's like having our own Will Rogers right here in the Club. We start with a contest, please contribute. We then move to this month's feature, our Un-Sung Heros, those who "See a Weed, Pick a Weed" and then some. See the Photo Section. The flower beds and garden decorations are often a topic of admiration and we thank all of our Green Thumbs out there. Hmmmm now there's an idea, an NCYC Green Thumb Award. You'll also find a challenge question regarding an Irish anomaly in the turf and two very pretty little girls. Find the answer in front of the Back Cover. Hint: it's adorable, and I think I already have my March 2019 cover for St. Patty's Day. Blue Skies Following Seas, Ron
