Central Coast Home & Lifestyle Summer 2018

Seaspray Valuations & Fine Jewellery of Umina Beach, are the premier Award Winning Jewellers on the Central Coast. Husband and wife team, David and Julie Mitcheson, jewellery professionals and owners of Seaspray Jewellery were thrilled and proud to be crowned Nationwide Australian Jeweller of the Year in 2015. Nationwide represents over 500 independent jewellery stores across Australia and New Zealand, helping stores like Seaspray compete with the city jewellers and the jewellery chain stores.

Julie and David won the coveted award

from a field of almost 400 jewellery stores across the Australia who are part of the Nationwide Jewellers group and Julie travelled to Sydney for the star-studded event. “We have only been with Nationwide for three years so we were incredibly pleased to receive Jeweller of the Year,” said Julie. Nationwide Director, Barry Jackson, said Seaspray Jewellery was chosen because of their remarkable growth record, their tireless campaign to always improve their business, the high quality of the jewellery produced by their award winning onsite jewellers, and their ability to accept new ideas and to think outside the square. Julie, David and their team are very progressive modern retailers. Most recently, Pearls of Australia announced the winners of the 2018 Australian Pearl Jewellery Design Masters Awards and we are again thrilled to be able to congratulate our very own apprentice jewellers, Danielle Shay, winner of the Australian Akoya Award category for her signature piece, “Siren’s Helm” and Madeleine McDonald who received a Highly Commended Award for her “Pearls In Full Bloom” creation. The girls’ pieces were selected from a record 60 entries, all of extremely high calibre received from across Australia and around the world, with each piece being scored for its creativity, technical skill and the strength of featuring the Australian South Sea pearl of Cygnet Bay in WA, and Australian Akoya pearl of Broken Bay in NSW. With Seaspray Jewellery being “The Home of Broken Bay Pearls”, both Danielle and Madeleine were motivated to design unique creations using these beautiful, locally grown, Australian Akoya pearls. Danielle’s handmade ring, “Siren’s Helm”, was inspired by the various myths of mermaids, luring ships and their crews to their doom and the ability of mermaids to cry tears of pearls. The 9 and 18 carat gold ring features a spinning ship’s wheel set with a Broken Bay Akoya pearl and one shoulder of the ring is fashioned as a mermaid’s tail with scales and fin. Madeleine brought her vision to life of

flowers blooming to reveal their pearls in her necklet creation, “Pearls In Full Bloom”. Madeleine’s centrepiece bloom of 18 carat yellow and rose gold presents a South Sea Cygnet Bay pearl, extending via white gold branches to two matching smaller flowers bursting with Broken Bay Akoya pearls. Judge, Peter Keep, stated, “The quality of workmanship and the creativity from the competitors this year was truly outstanding, and finding our winners was an incredibly difficult task.” We here at Seaspray Jewellery couldn’t agree more and are extraordinarily proud of Danielle and Madeleine and their commitment to excellence and creativity. It is yet another indication of the abundance of young talent to be found right here on the Central Coast.
