While it displays all the juniper notes you could hope for in a genever, it also integrates rich vanilla, apple, and baking spice notes. 94pts Excellent, Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2016 BRISTOW USA, MISSISSIPPI In exchange for his granddaughter’s hand in marriage, a young bloke presented his Judge grandfather-in-law, with a bottle of gin he triple distilled with a curious blend of spices. Tickled by the gin the judge allowed the marriage, provided his new grandson present regular allocations of the toothsome spirit. With that encouraging nod, Bristow Gin was born and went on to live happily ever after. Produced using a Cathead vodka base, 10 different botanicals are macerated for two weeks to reach a consistent flavor profile. After a second distillation the proof is slowly lowered to 94, and the gin is rested in stainless steel for 3 weeks prior to bottling to let the flavors mend. Reminiscent of gingerbread, this honey hued gin has a sweet scent and bold palate that shows vanilla bean, cinnamon, clove, cardamom and a hint of molasses, finishing with a sarsaparilla-like roots-and-bark finish.
