Parks, Trails & Recreation Master Plan

Regional Precedence – Blue Springs Parks Signage SIGNAGE AND WAYFINDING Wayfinding signage throughout the city is important, particularly around Huber Park on 101, the “gateway” into the city. Wayfinding is important for both residents and visitors. The easier it is for visitors to identify where a city’s attractions are, the more likely they are to spend time and money in the community. Shakopee attracts a lot of visitors and efficient wayfinding can also help ease traffic congestion and provide clear routes for pedestrians and motorists.

A hierarchy of signage and wayfinding should be implemented that distinguishes between more of the parks and amenities that function regionally, such as Tahpah, Huber Park, and Memorial, versus the more neighborhood focused parks. A consistent visual identity that reinforces Shakopee’s brand would help wayfinding, but also reinforce the community’s historic charm, that was identified by the public as being important to preserve. The signage imagery below is an example of a ignage and wayfinding package that the City could develop and implement.
