Parks, Trails & Recreation Master Plan

DIAMOND SPORTS Despite recent declines statewide in baseball, diamond sports are still an important part of Shakopee’s Parks and Recreation picture. Shakopee hosted the Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament along with New Prague and Jordan. Sixty-four class B and C teams from across Minnesota participated in the annual tournament. Shakopee was able to host this event at Tahpah’s Joe Schleper field because of the high quality field, easy access from major highways, and nearby hotel options for out of town visitors. Diamond sports are a major overlap facility with Shakopee Public Schools and Parks and Recreation should continue to work to continue a collaborative relationship that provides the most cost effective relationship for both entities.
