Parks, Trails & Recreation Master Plan

INTRODUCTION Shakopee has a well established and well-loved parks and trails system. There is a wide variety of amenities facilities available in the City for those looking for recreation, events, and activities. All systems need a comprehensive review of their form and function, and this chapter takes a deeper look into what updated and new facilities could look like based on input from the community and City staff.

The purpose of updating, re-visioning, and developing new plans for future parks is imperative for any city to continue providing the best and most relevant programming, facilities, and outdoor spaces for its constituents. In this chapter, the existing parks system is mapped out and organized by park type. Then, several of these key parks are looked at on a closer level with new, updated, or re-visioned concept plans. These selected parks are highlighted in green on the following pages.
