USD Baseball 2007

FRESHMAN (2006): Played in 47 games with 41 starts as a position player, and made 23 appearances with five starts as a pitcher serving as a valuable two-way player for USD...was named a freshman All– American by Collegiate Baseball. ..was named the WCC Freshman of the Year... hit .287 with 45 hits, six doubles, one triple and four home runs while rotating between the outfield and designated hitter spots.. on the mound he posted a 5-4 record with an ERA of 4.50 while pick– ing up a team-leading five saves...went 6-for-12 (.500) with three RBI , one double, one home run and came across the plate three times in the weekend sweep over Texas to earn his first of two WCC Player of the Week distinctions...went 3-for-4 with one double against Loyola Marymount (4/13/06) .. .went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one home run against Santa Clara (5/6/06)... had a solid pitching performance against Pepperdine allowing two runs on six hits in 6.2 innings of work (4/23/06)...had another solid start against UC Riverside allowing three runs on four hits in 5.1 innings of work, taking a no-hitter into the fifth inning (5/16/06)...went 2-for-4 with one home run and one RBI in a win against Saint Louis (6/3/06)...went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI against Fresno State (6/4/06). HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three varsity letters in baseball while playing for Gary Parcell at Norco High ... recorded a 10-1 record with an ERA of0.42 and hit .510 with eight home runs and 45 RBI as a senior...was named the Mountain View League MVP as a senior along with anAII-CIF and All-State selection ... as a junior posted a 7-2 record with an ERA of 2.20 while hitting .350.. .hit .410 as a sophomore and registered a 7-1 record with an ERA of 2.10... was named first-team All-Mountain League as a sophomore, junior and senior...was drafted in the 15th round of the MLB draft by the San Diego Padres PERSONAL: Born on Oct. 18, 1986 in Corona, Calif... majoring in com– munication studies...was heavily recruited by Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, Tulane and Arizona ... his father played college baseball at Cal State Fullerton.

FRESHMAN (2006): Played in seven games, starting in four...posted a .267 batting average registering four hits on the season...came up big in the Toreros come-from-behind win against Santa Clara as he had a huge hit in the bottom of the ninth to keep the rally alive for USO (5/5/06)...went 2-for-4 during his first start of the season against Santa Clara (5/6/06).

FRESHMAN (2005): Redshirted at San Diego.

HIGH SCHOOL: Posted outstanding numbers as a prep third baseman and first baseman at nearby Castle Park High School. .. was named the South Bay Player of the Year in 2004 after batting .423 and leading the Trojans into postseason play.. . also honored as a First Team All-South Bay performer as a senior and junior... hit .483 as during his junior cam– paign.. . led all South Bay players in a number of offensive categories during his prep career spanning three award-winning seasons.. . coached by Joaquin Sosa at Castle Park. PERSONAL: Born May 30, 1986 in Chula Vista, California to parents Jose and Yolanda... Was also recruited by Hawaii and San Diego State.. chose to attend USO because of the academics, baseball team and location close to home.
