2007 San Diego Newcomers

FRESHMAN (2006): Played at the University of Portland ... Started in 46 games while appearing in 49 at second base ... tied for team-high with five stolen bases, second with 34 runs, 61 hits and third with a .303 batting average ... also had 34 runs , 26 RBI , 11 doubles, four home runs and a triple. HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four varsity letters in baseball under Tom Sue– cow at Brophy College Prep.. .as a sophomore he hit .305 and helped his team reach the semi finals of the playoffs... as a junior he hit .426 with five home runs in helping his team win the Regional champion– ship ...as a senior he hit .418 with four home runs in helping his team win a second consecutive Regional championship. PERSONAL: Sean Nicol was born on Sept. 25, 1986... is the son of Karl and April Nicol. .. chose to transfer to USO because of the great academic atmosphere and outstanding baseball program

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four varsity letters in baseball playing for Chris Beck and Brian Felton at Loyola High School. .. as a sophomore he was name second-team All-Mission League ... as a junior he was named second-team All-Mission League while posting a .320 batting average and recording 20 stolen bases... as a senior was named first– team All-Mission League and also earned a first-team AII-CIF honor after posting a .400 batting average with two home runs and 30 stolen bases.. .he helped his team advance to the quarterfinals of the CIF playoffs as a senior.

SOPHOMORE (2006): Played at UCLA. .. played in 26 games with five starts...posted a .154 batting average with four hits, one home run and one RBI. FRESHMAN (2005): Played at UCLA. ..played in 36 games with 18 starts...posted a .222 batting average with 16 hits, two doubles and 14 RBI. HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four varsity letters in baseball while playing at Jesuit High School for Joe Putolny... for his four-year career, he hit just over .400 with 18 career home runs ... he was selected his team's MVP all four seasons. PERSONAL: Michael William Metzger Jr. was born on Sept. 21 , 1985... is the son of Mike and Kathy Metzger...was also recruited by UCLA. .. chose to transfer to USO because of the outstanding baseball program and the academic challenges.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a two-year letter winner in baseball at Grandview High School under OeanAdams... as a junior he hit .405 with four home runs en route to earning first-team All-Centennial League honors and leading his team to a league championship... as a senior he hit .520 with eight home runs and was selected first-team All-State and All-League, while helping his team reach the Elite 8 of the state playoffs. PERSONAL: Blake Robert Tagmyer was born on Oct. 29, 1987...he is the son of Bob and Sue Tagmyer...was also recruited by Gonzaga, Portland, Loyola Marymount and San Francisco.. .chose to attend U$0 because of the great baseball program, outstanding coaching staff and the excellent academic opportunities.
