JANUARY 2019 FC LIFE

Donna and Bob Smolens, were interested in community living with many activities, a fitness center, and most importantly a beach club. After playing golf, ( Bob), and viewing one house on Rivoli Drive, they knew that Frenchmans Creek was the place for them.

Darien, Connecticut has been home for 28 of their 34 years of marriage. They raised 2 sons, David, 29, recently married to Kira and Jeffrey, 25. David and Kira are in the process of moving to Los Angeles, he works for Oaktree, a private debt and equity firm and Kira is interviewing for a position with one of the advertising firms there. Jeffrey is currently working with a wealth man- agement firm in Hingham, Massachusetts and deciding whether to resume a career in sports management or stay in finance. He was previously working for the Yankees Triple A team in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Bob is a tax principal with Deloite. A graduate of New York Law, and Georgetown Law School, ( LLM), Bob is a tax lawyer by background with expertise in publicly traded partnerships and real estate, and private equity partnerships. However at the end of May, Bob will retire, and devote more time to playing golf and traveling. Donna has a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Economics from Fordham University. She has had over a 30 year career in private equity related firms. She is currently a senior adviser to Insight Venture Partners in New York. She is a gourmet cook, and a lover of the beach. Bob and Donna look forward to meeting more Frenchmans Creek friends, and becoming active members of our community. They plan on returning to Darien for the late Spring and Summer months returning to Frenchman’s in late Autumn.
