New Leadership Heads Association An enthusiastic slate of new officers and nine new board members were seated at the June meeting of the Alumni Association board of directors. The new officers, elected in April to one-year terms, are Virginia Stehly '83, president; Lori (Murray '83) Simpson, vice president; Steve Wojdowski '67, secretary; and Michael Liuzzi '76, '80, president-elect. The meeting also marked a historic first in Alumni Association history: the first seating of board members representing alumni from geographic areas outside the San Diego region. A pair ofalums, Terry Reardon '78 and Michael Fox '82 will represent the San Francisco area; and another pair, Dennis Halloran '61 and Stephan DeSales '67, will represent the Los Angeles/Orange County area. William Coury '64 was elected to represent Phoenix-area alumni. Other new board members are Joanne (Higgins '76) Leslie, John Prunty '84, Victoria (Westervelt '74) Nasman, Veronica (Platt '82) Longstreth. Sam Attisha '89 was seated as the class _of '89 represen– tative. The new directors join returnees Charles Abdi '83, Carole (Farrell '57, '77) Burke, Steve Gauvin '84, Marcia Holmberg '88, Laurel (Potter '77) Klotz, Randall Klotz '76, Charles LiMandri '77, Linda Nelson '83, '84, Mary Jo Riley, Matthew Stehly '81, Clare White '80 and Delle (Willett '64) Stattin. Mike '66 and Susan (Bell) Cihak caught up

Fr. Philip Creider has served three years as secretary-treasurer of the Council of Priests and as regional vicar in Woodward, Okla. He also continues to serve as pastor of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Woodward. The parish includes four missions in four different counties covering 5,324 square miles - making it perhaps the largest parish territorially in the continental United States... Kathy (Dunn) Wellman '74 O.D.) recently was named vice president and treasurer of the San Diego chapter of the Alumnae of the Sacred Heart. Kathy and her husband, Jim, have two sons, "].R.," 9, and Tommy, 4. She is an attorney in private practice in Oceanside, Calif.

Donald Altomonte recently was appointed general manager of The Pruden– tial Financial Services in San Diego. He and his wife, Susan (Crom), became parents for the first time on March 5, 1988, with the birth ofDavidJoseph... Ed and Dianna (Hauck) Carberry '78 look forward to returning to San Diego this summer. Ed will take over as the head varsity football coach at Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley. He also will teach physical education and advanced placement civics. Dianna hopes to attend USD again to study for a master's degree in education. She was the advanced placement instructor for biology at Tustin High School as well as the summer recreation director. Both Ed and Dianna are eager to become involved at USD again. Their daughter, Maegan, 9, is not so sure about the upcoming move.. . Melanie (Duchesne) Lewandowski was awarded a top teaching honor for classroom educators by the Saginaw Valley, Mich., chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children.

Jeannette (McDaniel) Brown : is the mother of four children and a graduate of the USD paralegal program. She has been employed as a paralegal for the last five years and currently is pursuing a teaching credential at Chapman College.. Jeffner Allen is associate professor of philoso– phy at the State University of New Indiana University Press recently published The Thinking Muse: Feminism and Modern French Philosophy, edited by Jeffner and Iris Marion Young. York and a member of the editorial board of Hypatia.

Ann works as a senior commercial lines underwriter for Unigard Insurance. She has fond memories of her years at USD and looks forward to her next reunion.. .Amalio Madueno directs a five-state Small Business Administration pilot program from Washington, D.C., which helps Hispanic community-based organizations in poor communi– ties to promote economic development and create housing, jobs and businesses. Amalio was a tutor and minority student recruiter in the USD affirmative action program from 1973 to 1975.. John Angus received his master's degree in mathematics from UCLA and a doctorate in applied statistics from the University of California at River– side. He has worked for Hughes
