MICHAEL KRAMER ASSISTANT COACH 2nd-year Pepperdine 1999

Michae l Krame r is in his second season as an assistant coach fo r the USD baseball pro– gram. As the Torero hitting coach, Kramer helped the Toreros capture the 2003 West Coast Conference Championship. During the o ff season Kra me r was eleva ted to th e program's top ass istan t. sons as an ass istant at UNC Greensboro. As a college player, Kramer helped Pepperdine amas.s a 46-16 record du1ing his senior year playing mostly as a catcher. After graduating in 1999 he began his coadling career as an assistant at Pepperdine tl1e following season. Kramer served as USD's first base coach last season and also directs the e ffo rts of San Diego's offense as the To reros primary hitting coach .

ERIC VALENZUELA ASSISTANT COACH 1st-year Pepperdine 2001

The USD baseba ll program was p leased to announce the hiring of Eric Valenzue la as an assistant baseball coach this past off season . Va le nzue la , a coll egiate pitcher fo r both Ari– zona State and Pepperdi ne , takes on the role o f p itching coach for the reigning back-to– back West Coast Co nfe re nce Champion Toreros.

A native of West Covina , Valenzuela re turns to Soutl1ern California after se1ving as an as.sistant coach

Va le nzue la brings w ith him a strong background develop ing young tale nt, most recently directing the pitching staff of the Brewster White Caps of the Cape Code League th is past summe r. As an as.sistant coach at St. Ma1y's from 2001-2002, Valenzuela coordinated much of tl1e team's community programs, including directing youth camps and clinics. Valenzuela served as the Gaels third base coach, managed recruiting effo1ts and also directed the team·s strength and conditioning program. Valenzuela garnered AJI-Ame1ica honors as a prep athlete at Bishop Amat High School

and went o n to accept a baseba ll scho larship at Arizona State Univers ity whe re he was a member of the Sun Devil 's 1998 College World Seri es team. After transfe rring to Pepperdine , Va le nzue la wou ld be honored as the Waves team captain his seni o r yea r, lead ing Peppe rdine to the 2001 West Coast Confe re nce Championship title. Valenzuela graduated from Pepperdine in 2001 witl1a B.A. in Crimina]Justice. His fatl1er Victor was an as.sistant boxing coach for me United States in the 1984 Olympic Games and currently runs the Azusa Boxing Club in East Los Angeles.
