401. Bottle-wax, Black.

1 lb. of rosin, white and transparent ;

melt it in a tin dish

over a slow fire ; add about ^ an ounce of boiled linseed oil (varnish), so as when a drop is taken out on a cold stone it loses its brittleness ; then add 1 ounce of lamp-black, stirred in until all lumps are dissolved.

402. Bottle-wax, Green.

1 lb. of rosin, white and transparent ;

melt it in a tin

dish over a slow fire ; add about | an ounce of boiled lin- seed oil (varnish), so as when a drop is taken out on a cold stone it loses its brittle quality ; then mix in 4 ounces of chrome green, stirred until the lumps are dissolved.

403. Bottle-wax, Yellow.

1 lb. of rosin, white and transparent ;

melt it in a tin

dish over a slow fire ; add about ^ an ounce of boiled lin- seed oil or varnish, so as when a drop is taken out on a cold stone it loses its brittle character; then mix in 4 ounces of chrome yellow, finely powdered ; stir until all 'umjis are dissolved.
