July 2026
CTC’s Biggest Weekend The week before the July 4 (Monday-Thursday): th Grocery shop ahead of time to beat the crowds. Pack perishables on ice or use ice packs in your cooler bags during hot weather or in the case the ferry is delayed. Bring your bulk freight items during the morning weekday trips to ensure it makes it to Chebeague. Buy tickets for you and your family. Make sure they have a physical or digital copy at time of boarding. Friday July 3rd: This is usually the busiest afternoon of the summer. Bulk freight will NOT be transported after the 12:15pm ferry. We will not have room for those items in the afternoon. Label and count your belongings, there will be a ton of luggage and groceries. Dogs must be on a leash when on the ferry. Saturday July 4th: The ferry will run a normal Saturday schedule including the 10:30/10:45pm trip. Be extra vigilant on the Stone Pier and roads on Chebeague. There will be a lot of pedestrian, bike and vehicle traffic. This includes the parade after the 10/10:15am ferry. Sunday July 5th: We anticipate the ferries leaving Chebeague to be very busy. Again, count your bags and pack your patience. We are all going to the same spot on Cousins Island. Travel safely on the mainland! As always our crew will be there to help with any questions!
Marine One (That’s us!) All of our summer friends are back on the Island, as well as some visitors. This means that the Chebeague population is booming. Unfortunately this means that CTC and the Chebeague Island Fire have been BUSY with Rescues: The second we know there is an EMS call, the ferry turns into a rescue boat to transport a patient. We cannot leave Chebeague until we are released by distpach. Rescues can take a lot of time, please be patient with the crew. If you get to the Stone Pier and the ferry is gone, don’t panic! We are coming back and will do our best to get you to the mainland. We are always in contact with the Bus during rescues so Route One Customers can get to their cars. Annual Meeting Annual Meeting July 19th July 19th 9:00 AM at the Hall 9:00 AM at the Hall Annual Meeting July 19th Wharf Road on Cousins Island The area at the head of the pier is one of the busiest places in our transportation system, especially during the summer. Residents rely on it to drop off and pick up people and supplies, while the shuttle bus may be carrying dozens of passengers trying to catch the ferry or get back to their cars at Route One. When our bus drivers ask vehicles to move, they're often balancing the needs of those passengers on the bus with those of residents using the pier. We ask everyone to share this space with patience and consideration. A few extra moments of cooperation can make a big difference in keeping this critical area safe and moving smoothly for everyone.
Summer Office Hours Monday through Thursday 9:00am-3:30pm Friday from 9am - 1:30pm (207)846-3700 Purchase tickets at CTCFerry.org!

Central Maine Power President’s Pick Book
Central Maine Power recently visited the Chebeague Island Library to share this year’s President’s Pick book. President & CEO Linda Ball selected Good Morning, Maine by Maine author Sara Frautten, published by McSea Books. This charming story celebrates the landscapes, wildlife, and enduring spirit of our state, something we are proud to support as part of Maine’s communities and traditions.
One of our favorite traditions is the annual President’s Pick book donation program, which supports literacy and brings meaningful stories to local communities. We hope this book brings joy to readers and inspires a deeper appreciation for Maine’s natural beauty.

Notes From The Council
Join the July 4 Parade on Chebeague Island A community celebration of independence, happiness, and island life.
It’s July, and summer is in full swing. We hope you will join this year’s July 4 parade to celebrate 250 years of the Declaration of Independence and the document’s famous statement that all people are endowed with the right to pursue happiness. Chebeague Island is the perfect place to celebrate. We certainly understand the value of independence, and throughout the year we find happiness with friends and neighbors on beaches and boats, at potlucks, and in community gatherings. Decorate a bike, float, or golf cart and join
the parade. We will muster at 11 am at the Inn and begin at 11:30. This year’s Parade Marshal is our beloved Kitty Freeman, who recently celebrated her 100 th birthday. The best places to view the parade and its acts are at the Historic Society and in front of the Community Hall. Our judges will be lined up reviewing the parade at both locations and will announce the winners before the start of the July 4th picnic at the Recreation Center, where the parade ends. Bring your enthusiasm, decorations, and island spirit, and join your neighbors in celebrating the pursuit of happiness. CHEDEMPTION 2026 We had another fantastic Chedemption season in 2025! Over 2,100 CLYNK bags were shipped off the island, at no charge, by Casco Bay Lines. This removed more than 34,000 pounds of glass, plastic and aluminum from the waste stream. We celebrate the continued savings for tax payers and, more importantly, we are doing incredible recycling and making money! The Chedemption Committee is once again asking for your assistance in bagging up returnables during the summer months. The 27 hours that participating organizations volunteered in 2025 resulted in $600 for each group! We are hoping for another successful year of Chedemption and know it will happen with your help. Due to safety and insurance concerns, children under 18 cannot volunteer. Disposable gloves and hand cleaner will be inside the shed. You do not have to belong to an organization to volunteer to help during their week. Please feel free to contact the organization of your choice or any of the folks listed below to sign up!

Fuel & Medication Assistance Please call Lola Armstrong at 420-0608 if you need help with fuel or medication assistance. All requests are confidential. Our community is so very fortunate to have such fellow Islanders willing and able to assist in time of need! Words cannot truly express my complete gratitude. Jen Hamilton Thank You I may not end up thanking them a million times, as I would wish, but here is one very sincere THANK YOU to the Chebeague Fire & Rescue Department for their wonderful treatment of me after my frightening car accident at the Stone Wharf. Both the EMT Team, and the CTC crew members were so calm, compassionate, and competent. I was put at ease, felt safe, and in good hands. So important in a traumatic time! Also, I want to thank Chris Bogle, not an official member of a Team, but a volunteer who did not hesitate to somehow!! pull me to safety, quickly and carefully.
