with Sri Ganesh

- 29-08-14:

Chaturthy Day. … D., fortunately, made himself available the entire day and, first thing in the morning, I asked him to go down to the market and collect Rs. 3,000/- worth of loose fresh flowers, which he was able to bring in time for me to complete the preparations in the shrine and to also help decorate the pathways and the Shivalingam platform… I say “fortunately” because nothing came from the Farm and no more help came from P’s side either, perhaps due to his shame; as for A’s promised harvest of fresh grain, he forgot to do it and only at the last moment rushed in to check with me and then to the local market to purchase some fruit and a few ears of cambu and ragi… But eventually everything was ready in time and I guess it all went well enough and people kept coming long after the Aarti right until dark. I think it is fair to say that Sri Ganesh was well served: I dressed him in a golden orange longi and shoulder scarf and placed his golden jeweled crown and a necklace of pearls…

… I did not have the heart to remove any part of yesterday’ arrangement, as it all is still as beautiful as it was yesterday… The body is still struggling to recover from the tension, though. I saw that P had slept in Riddhi room to keep vigil as he would normally do every year… … I counted all the offerings: Rs. 8,530/-

Namaste, Sri Ganesh, Aum Namo Bhagavate…
