… P came in with an offering of clay vessels he himself fired the golden black he knows I like best… He says he is to begin in his new work at Aurofood, where his friend the mason is working, on Monday next… There is this moment between us when it is simply hard not to embrace each other – but this will have to wait till he has grown a little and really seen what he has done, for he has not yet truly looked at it and still hopes it will disappear, be erased, as if it had never happened. I want to keep Sri Ganesh adorned for another day…

… The sky is now very grey and the air quiet and restful, after a light drizzle in the night… Today is the sixth day and I remove Sri Ganesh’s dress and ornaments; I am not very happy to do so, it all suited him very well, but it is time. After many days, I do again the usual puja and place again the large mala of rudraksha seeds – but I do not sing, nor do I burn any camphor…
