declarations (EPDs) that motivate transport operators to manage the supply chain responsibly and sustainably throughout the life cycle (Marzocchini et al. 2023). In this paper has been shown that the life cycle approach through the use of the life cycle assessment (LCA) technique in EPD is one of the most important elements in reducing the carbon footprint in the automotive industry. 2. LCA importance in Environmental Product Declarations and Environmental Footprint Assessment Environmental Product Declarations require the use of specific standards to ensure the unambiguity of the information and data provided. The principles and procedures for issuing environmental labels and declarations are defined using international standards. The ISO 14000 series of standards provides guidance on environmental management systems, including environmental declarations. In order to obtain environmental declarations, environmental analyzes must be performed using proven, accurate and reliable assessment methods that are scientifically justified. Access to information related to the evaluation, including methods and criteria, for all interested parties is also an important aspect. Environmental declarations should include information on the validity period in order to ensure continuous improvement of products and to take into account changing market conditions, innovations and technological progress. After the specified deadline, both the label and the declaration, as well as the procedures and criteria adopted for its development should be verified (Michalak 2023, Marsh et al. 2023). The table 1 presents the current ISO 14000 series standards related to life cycle analysis and environmental declarations.
