RODEO ROUNDUP

WORLD’S OLDEST RODEO PRESCOTT, ARIZ.

Feild makes triumphant return

It’s safe to say Kaycee Feild is

back.

The four-time PRCAWorld Champion Bareback Rider was out of action fromMarch 30 until July 3 recovering from a skull fracture, an inline fracture of his jaw and inline fracture of his nasal cavity. Feild had an 87-point ride on Beutler & Son Rodeo’s Nutrena’s Killer Bee but was injured moments after the whistle March 30 in the finals at Rodeo Austin (Texas). Feild was back in top form at the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott, Ariz., as he claimed the title with an 89-point ride on United Pro Rodeo’s PowWow Nights. “It does feel really good (to win),” said Feild, 32. “Injuries happen for a reason, and if you learn to understand that and have the mindset of coming back stronger, things will be better for you. I came off a winning streak for the winter and I was feeling good coming back. I drew the perfect horse (Stace Smith Pro Rodeos’ Miss Dunny) to come back on (in Mandan, N.D.), and that gave me great confidence for the rest of the week.” Feild split the win in Mandan with an 87-point ride on Miss Dunny and then won Prescott outright. Feild was first in the July 9 PRCA | RAM World Standings with $130,105.

Between the long round there and Livingston, I won about $6,000 on him.” Finlay won $19,435 over the Fourth, including $4,597 in Livingston. That haul helped move him into 15th place in the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings. Winning a rodeo like Livingston was something he’d hoped for when he moved to the U.S.
