Phase III: Multiple Tasks—Teacher Pulls One Group Ø Teacher quickly reviews each of the expectations and routines for skill-based time and Centers as needed, emphasizing the “no interruption” concept. Ø Teacher chooses students to model some expectations and routines while the whole class watches. Ø Teacher gives the independent tasks for skill- based time and the Center options. Ø Teacher pulls one group for about 10-15 minutes to work with who needs reteaching/preteaching. Ø Teacher ends skill-based time with a debriefing session with whole class.

Introduce teacher working with small skill-based group

Ø Students listen while teacher reviews expectations and routines. Ø Individual students are asked to model for others what some of the expectation and routines mean. Ø Students choose from Center options. Ø Students move freely from independent tasks and Centers following the directions the teacher has given. Ø Students actively participate in a debriefing session.

Phase IV: Multiple Tasks—Teacher Pulls Multiple Groups

30-45 From now on, any time a new activity or Math Center is added for skill-based time, the teacher should follow a similar routine as the one established above. When ready to begin Phase IV, the teacher may begin to pull multiple groups for an extended time (10-15 min. each group) using intervention and challenge materials and activities.
