Brian Fogarty Associate Director ofAthletics for Athletic Development

Associate DirectorofAthletics Dan Yourg has been a member of the USO Athletics Department since the fa ll of 1985. Yourg oversees football , baseball, men ' s basketball , go lf, men ' s soccer, and men ' s and women ' s tennis. In addition , he is the depart– ment liaison to USD's Financial Aid Office.

Brian Fogarty enters his fifth year as USD's Assoc iate Director of Ath letics for Athleti c Development. He took over this post after spending thirteen years as USD ' s head foot– ball coach. He directed USD ' s football pro– gram to eleven seasons of.500 or better records and guided their move from the Division III

ranks to the NCAA I-AA level in 1993. His primary responsibilities are with fund raising, overseeing the Torero Athletic Association (TAA) , and marketing and promotions for the athletic department. He is in the third year of the capital campaign for the 5, I00-seat Jenny Craig Pavilion. Brian resides in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego and has four children : Bridget (a recent graduate of USO), Joe, Colleen (currently a freshman at USO) and Megan. Yourg received hi s Bachelor' s (Sociology, 1980) and Master' s (Soc ial Work , 1986) degrees from the University ofWisconsin, where he was a nose guard on the Badgers ' football team. Dan and his wife Virginia, a USO alumnus, are the parents of three sons, John, Tom and Mike.

Wendy Guthrie Associate Director ofAthletics/ Senior Woman Administrator Wendy enters her fifth year on the USO staffas the Associate DirectorofAthletics and Senior Woman Administrator, this year she will be the Tournament Director for the WCC Basketball Tournament that USO will host in early March. Guthrie is a 1991 graduate of Whittier

Renee Wiebe is in her fourth year as As– sistant Director ofAthletics for Marketing and Promotions. She handles Corporate Sponsor– ships; coordinates game-day promotions and special events; oversees community outreach programs like the Inter-City Games; and is in– vo lved with annual fund raising events for the

College (B.A. in Business Administration) where she competed on the cross country team all four years. A two-time team captain, she was a four-time team MVP and A II -SCIAC se lection. She earned her Master's in Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Admin– istration at Springfield College in Massachusetts. After Springfield, she held the position of Assistant Director of Ath letics/SWA at St. Franc is College in Pennsylvania for one year. Wendy gained experi– ence worki ng with the Co lorado Sports Council and the US Olympic Committee at th e 1994 US O lymp ic Festiva l in St. Louis, Missouri, and was the Director of Awards Ceremonies at the I995 Olympic Festival in Denver. She also served in corporate hospitality at the 1996 O lymp ic Games in Atlanta. Carolyn Greer Head Athletic Trainer Carolyn Greer en ters her twenty-third year as the Head Certifi ed Athletic Trainer fo r the University of San Diego athletic department. She is assisted by Suzi Higgins and Paul Signorelli . A 1975 graduate of San Diego State Uni– versi ty w ith a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education, Caro lyn went on to earn her Master ' s in Sports Medicine in 1978. Over the yea rs she has taught classes in Sports Medicine and had numerous artic les published in a vari ety ofjournals. She oversees sixteen interco ll egiate teams and approx imately 390 USO studen t– athletes on a yearly basis. The Sports Medicine staff provides inj ury preve ntion, immed iate care and rehabilitation for USD's intercolle– giate athl etes. Caro lyn, and her husband Jeff, reside in the Pacific Beac h area of San Diego w ith their two boys, David and Jason.

Spo11s Banquet, and Salute To Women's Athletics. Her previous ex– perience in athletics was at the University of Northern Iowa where she was Marketing and Promotions Director from 1993 -95 . Prior to that she was Promotions Assistant at the Unive rs ity of Florida in Ga inesv ilie, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Journal ism-Broadcast Sequence from the University of Missouri -Co lumbia in May, 1991. She went on to earn her Masters of Education with an emphasis in Sports Administra– tion from Wichita State Un ivers ity in August, 1993 .

Ted Gosen Sports Information Director

Ted Gosen is in his 19th year serving as USD's Director of Sports Information. He oversees publicity and publications for all USO Athletics teams, in addition to hosting media at USO events. He is assisted by Mel– issa Turley. In 1981 Ted received his Master's of Sci– ence degree in Sports Administration from St.

Thomas Un iversity in Miami, Florida. A 1979 graduate of San Jose State University, he earned his Bachelor ofScience degree in Busin ess Admi ni stration. In add iti on to hi s SID duties, Ted is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSI DA); ass ists th e USO Hall of Fame Comm ittee; is athletics ed itor for 'Vo ices,' a un ivers ity publication that is published six times a year; and teaches a bowling class through the USO rec reation department. Ted and hi s wife Terri , a 1983 USO graduate, reside in Poway w ith their fo ur daughters: Katie, Co ll een, C laire and Erin.
