Villa Kas Dorrie BONAIRE, DUTCH CARIBBEAN

Inspired by the traditional rural kunuku houses found on Bonaire, Dutch architect Piet Boon designed Kas Dorrie – the largest of a nine-villa collection on the waterfront in Kralendijk, the tiny capital – to benefit from the island's ever-blowing breeze. Built with locally-sourced wood and coral that can withstand salty air, it has wide entrances, symmetrical structure, slatted windows that let in the sunlight and poured concrete floors. Most of the furniture is custom-made or from the Piet Boon collection; the exceptions are the easy chairs by Paola Lenti and handcrafted lighting by Kevin Reilly. Standout service Chefs, therapists, babysitters and yoga teachers are on standby, as well as kite-surfing, surfing and diving instructors. Special amenities Thatched gazebos with sunset views, private terraces and pools, art made from sun-bleached driftwood. Number of rooms Four double bedrooms, each with the same harmonious, pared-back color palette as the rest of the villa.
