our trail system. The report is that some one or more than one person decided to use them as target practice and those new signs are now full of bullet holes. We are a small club with a small number of members, so the expense of replacing these signs is out of the question at this time, especially due to COVID canceling our fund-raising events last year and the pur- chase of our new equipment building. It just amazes us that people who should be respon- sible hunters can destroy others property with- out a care or thought to what they are doing. We know it happens in other places too, but that doesn’t make it any easier. We did decide to hold our meetings on the first Sunday of the month, which is where they were two years ago. All meetings are at 55 Bradbury Brook Road, off Stagecoach Rd which is off Route 9 in Clifton. We are out there but the drive in is worth it for the home- made goodies at each meeting! There are usu- ally some left over, so members go home with a snack for the road. We thank Nancy and Dola for allowing us to use their house and to feed us the goodies at each meeting. We will be attempting to recruit more mem- bers to our merry little band by inviting all who registered snowmobiles in Clifton last year to a meeting. We are working on getting the list and will send out invitations as soon as we have it. Like all clubs around the state, more members to help with the trail work and to help with fund raising will be a welcome addition. We are not all work and no play once the season begins, so come check us out. Until December, enjoy your Thanksgiving time with family and friends and bring on the cold, cold, snowy weather!! The Directors, officers and members of CASC https://sites.google.com/site shirleybogtrailbusters Like us on Facebook Shirley Bog Trail Busters. Email us: ShirleyBogTrailBusters@gmail.com We are still waiting to have our first meet- ing, but it is scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of October and from that month thereafter throughout the winter. Please do join us for our meetings. We will be opening it up to all members this season. We meet at the Shirley Library at 7:00PM and have a combined regu- lar/directors meeting. Our 2021-22 membership packets have arrived from MSA and are all mailed out. Sorry, that they are late but our Membership Chair, Debi was hiking in Portugal until Octo- ber. As in the past, we have included 6 MSA Super Raffle tickets in our membership mail- ing. We also have had a nice donation of a new pair of Yukon Charlie’s Pro II Hike Adventure Series Snowshoes complete with bindings, Trekking poles and a snowshoe gear bag. We will also be including these tickets in your membership envelope. Please do try and sell them to support both MSA and our club. If you need more tickets, give us a call. We will draw for the snowshoes at our cookout in February 2022, so meantime, sell, sell, and sell tickets for our club! Also, don’t forget to have your snowmo- bile serviced and ready for the riding season. If you are a do it yourselfer, take advantage of the warm fall season and get your machine ready! Don’t forget to plan a few trips around our beautiful state of trails. Consider making a trip to the Moosehead Lake Region and visit our trails in Shirley. snowmobile club it seems only fitting that we were awarded the Spirit of America Founda- tions Maine chapter tribute winner for commu- nity service. Spirit of America is a 501c public charity encouraging volunteerism. We received a certificate from State representative Peter Lyford of Eddington (dist. 129) presenting EMSC the Award! “To recognize the signifi- cant achievements we have made in the lives of area citizens” “with much of our State and Nation having been shut down due to the covid- 19 pandemic I am delighted to acknowledge EMSC’s receipt of the 2020 Spirit of America foundations award for selfless volunteerism”. We as a club are humbled and honored by this award. As always, we could not do it without our volunteer members and of course our gen- erous landowners! Thank you! Our October meeting was our landowner appreciation dinner. This is a small token of appreciation for our generous landowners. Each family is invited to the club and provided with a free roast pork dinner complete with potato, vegetables, salad and desserts. Once again, we remind you that we have planned our annual Vintage Snowmo- bile Ride-In and Show for Saturday February 26th. Mark your calendars now! This will also function as our Landowner Appreciation. All Landowners will be honored. We would not exist without them! It’s always a good time. How to find us: We are located at 262 Long Hill Road in Orrington. Our mailing address is PO Box 202, Orrington, ME 04474. Our con- tact phone number is 207-852-8000. You can also find us on social media including Face- book, Instagram and Twitter. That’s where you will get the most updated information. Our meetings take place the first Tuesday of each month through April. See you soon! Laurie LaViolette, President SVSC kicked off the 2021-22 season by resuming regular meetings on September 22, 2021. Our first meeting included our annual election of officers. No changes were made in the current slate of officers and directors, and we are happy to have them all on board once again this year. Although we did not have regular club meetings throughout the summer, much work was still in progress. Our trailmaster, Scott Jakins, was busy working on trail re-routes as we have had many landowner changes over the past months. Scott, along with other mem- bers, completed other necessary trail work and repairs. There will be much more in the com- ing months to prepare for what we hope will be a great riding season! We will be finalizing plans for our Land- owner Appreciation event among other items. Submitted by: Lisa Sawyer SVSC Secretary Well by now we are all set with our new 2020 Pisten Bully 400 T4F and trust this will lower our annual maintenance costs. Our mountainous terrain, rocks and other obstacles takes a toll on the equipment. We are so thank- ful for the support of the town of Greenville that has helped us navigate the many hurtles of the loan and insurance process. We are also thankful to our major landown- ers for keeping our trails available and cre- ating detours when logging or other closures become necessary. This year we have devel- oped an alternative route around Rum Moun- tain that will eliminate our steepest hill that was all but impossible to properly groom. There has been a steady influx of new vis- itors all year to our area all looking for an escape from the busy city environment. Our rural setting means social distancing was the norm even before the latest trends were imposed. This means many new riders. Reminder there is a November 13th signage meeting at the clubhouse with details to be determined. Any club member is welcome to come and learn with us. Contact Bob Howes 207-731-7193. Groomer maintenance updates were given. The Groomer certificates are on file at the clubhouse for our operators that took the test. Club Raffle Drawings will begin at the November 13 th meeting. We hope you have your tickets. Pot Luck dinners will begin at the next meeting, as well. Memberships are coming in slowly. If you need a membership, please email the club at the email address above or message us on Facebook. Cost is $30 for family with MSA, Associate Member is $20 and Business is $40. Of course, extra donations toward our groomer fund are always welcome and we have the Sponsor A Mile program. If you would like us to advertise your business on the trails, Sponsor a Mile is a great way to do this. Don’t hesitate to contact us for more informa- tion and questions. We would love to see new faces and volun- teers for the club to continue running in the future. At most meetings, we only have about a dozen or so people. It’s a lot for a few active people to keep up with all the demands it takes to run a club. Let’s hope for good weather to get the trails ready. Where does the time go? It’s mid-October and the temperature has been in the mid 70’s here in Clifton for the past three days. It sure doesn’t feel like snow season, but the leaves have changed to wonderful colors and are beginning to cover the ground, so hopefully it will get cold soon. We held our first meeting of the season in October with a small turnout. Trail work will have started by the time you read this. We know we have brushing to do and bridges to look at.
