Steer wrestler Sean Mulligan stopped the clock in a Livingston (Mont.) Roundup-record-tying time of 3.3 seconds.

Mulligan ties Livingston steer wrestling mark Add Sean Mulligan to the list of steer wrestlers who share the Livingston (Mont.) Roundup record. Mulligan stopped the clock in 3.3 seconds to win the July 2-4 rodeo and pick up $5,023. “I knew I was fast,” Mulligan said. “I didn’t know if I got out of the barrier. I popped up and looked back to see if I snuck out of there.” Mulligan became the sixth man to stop the clock in a Livingston-record 3.3 seconds. Frank Shepperson set the record in 1976. K.C. Jones (2013), Trevor Knowles (2014), Olin Hannum (2017) and Jake Fulton (2017) have since equaled it. Naturally, Mulligan was proud to tie the record, even prouder he did it at the age of 42. “It’s pretty cool,” he said. “I set one at Albuquerque (N.M.) last year at 41. Being over 40 and able to set arena records is pretty neat. I haven’t won near as good as I wanted to the last couple years. I’m slowing down a little bit. The older you get the more you’ve got to work out and work at your deal to keep up with those young guys.” Mulligan was riding Holly, 10, at Livingston. While he will likely miss the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo as a competitor, his horses probably won’t. Holly and Miss Kitty, 11, are having a great season, helping Cole Edge, Chason Floyd, Tanner Brunner and Cameron Morman all rank inside the Top 20 in the PRCA | RAMWorld Standings as of July 12.

Mulligan also hazes for all four of them. “It’s been fun,” said Mulligan, who rides Slick when hazing. “All four of them are such good guys. To see my horses do well and them do well on my horses, it’s been a blast. Hopefully we’ll keep it rolling all summer and get them to the Finals.” – Scott Kaniewski Viers wins bull riding at Belle Fourche Tyler Viers’ Cowboy Christmas run has been a bit more hectic than most. The 23-year-old bull rider ended up in a fender bender which cut his travel plans short of a couple rodeos. It didn’t affect his performance at the Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fourche, S.D., though. Viers rode D&HCattle’s Money Talks for 87 points to win in Belle Fourche and cash a check for $3,681. “It’s great,” said Viers, of Comstock, Neb. “I’ve been going to that rodeo since my permit year and been wanting to win it.” Viers sawMoney Talks the night before his ride, which convinced him they could have a good trip together. Immediately after the ride, Viers knew he had a chance to move into first. “I knew we were going to be some points,” he said. “Usually, he’s nicer than that, but he threw a lot of tricks at me.” The car accident prevented Viers from competing in St. Paul, Ore., and
