Noteworthy: Selected a 2004 Preseason I-AA Mid-Major All-Ameri ca by The Sports Network ... also j oins teammate Joe Maietta as one of two 2004 team captains ... last season was selected a First Team All-America by both The Sports Network I-AA Mid-Major and Don Hansen's Football Gazette.

Keith Zapalac return s for hi s senior campaign where he will again be ....,.....,______.-- ·-......... one of the top offensive Ii nemen among all I-AAMid-Major schools ... a very athl etic lineman, he'll start at left tackle where he will be counted on for hi s on-the-field leadership (he is a fi erce competitor and a very vocal leader) ... an excellent pass blocker (he did not give up a sack last season), he is very fl exible and light on his feet and is a strong run blocker as well ... one of the best zone blockers on the team ... last season he started every game and anchored the offensive line unit that helped USD lead all I-AA schools in total offense at 483 .3 yards per game .. . USD's ground attack averaged 170.7 yards per game, with 312.6 yards coming through the air .. . last season he was also named to the First Team Pioneer Football League All -Academic Squad .. . during the 2002 season he was selected Honorable Mention All-Pioneer Football League by the PFL coaches .. .also was selected to PFL Honor Roll ... prior to USD he prepped at Sealy High School in Seal y, Texas where he earned First Team All-State honors hi s senior year .. . the team went 14- 1 and were state finalists ... j unior year was named All-Di strict with team going 7-3 and winning District Championship ... team was state champion sophomore & freshman years .. . also lettered in baseball ... chose USD for location and academics ... hobbies include hunting & fi shing. Michael Gasperson returns for hi s third season with the Toreros ... he suffered a knee injury in team's fi nal 2003 spring practice and did not pl ay during 2003 .. . was selected to The Sports Network 2003 I-AA Mid-Major Preseason All -Ameri ca Team and Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA I-AA Mid-Maj or Preseason All–

America Team .. . in 2002 he earned First Team All-PFL honors after hauling in a team-high 57 receptions for 907 yards and 10 touch– downs .. . he shared PFL Player of the Week honors with teammate Eric Rasmussen when he caught 8 balls, fi ve that went for touch–

downs, for 187 yards against Valparaiso ... the 5 TD receptions in a game were new USD and PFL single game records ... he talli ed two other games of 8 receptions (Butler, Dayton) and I00+ receiving yards ( 11 4 vs. La Verne, l 02 vs. So. Oregon) ... he caught at least I TD in six di ffere nt contests ... in 200 l he caught five passes for 93 yards ( 18.6 yards per catch) .. . he caught two passes against Drake for a total of25 yards, including a 2 1-yard TD from QB Eric Rasmussen in the thirdquarterthat gave USD a3 l - 101ead (USD won 3 1-24) .. . he also haul ed in a 39-yarder against Butler ... prior to USD he attended Palma Hi gh School in Monterey, CA where he was a four-sport letterman and earned the school's Outstanding Senior Athlete award .. . he was MVP in volleyball , and MVP Defensive Pl ayer in basketball ... chose USD for educati onal opportu– nities and football .. . also recruited by Ari zona and Saint Mary's .. . hi s grandfather pl ayed football at Santa Clara.
