Railway Tracks Along the deep-water quays in the Customs Port there are railway lines, generally double tracks, belonging to the State Railways. In the Free Port, the quay tracks belong to the Free Port Company, and the making up of the trains is done by the company’s own locomotives. The railway tracks on the quays throughout the Port of Copenhagen are in direct connection with the main lines of the Danish State Railways. During the year 1937 as many as 80,000 wagons were handled, hereof 46,000 loaded. Watchmen On every ship lying in the harbour with inflammable cargo a watchman is placed on board by the Port Authority. The watchman to be paid by the ship. Ships with other cargo desiring a watchman must make arrangements through their local agent. The Port’s Miscellaneous Equipment The Port Authority own one steam-icebreaker of 1800 i. h. p., and two ice-breaking tug-boats of 350 and 90 i. h. p. respectively, besides several smaller motor-boats for patroll­ ing, etc., one 40-ton floating crane and 7 smaller barge cranes, 2 dredgers, 9 hopper barges, and 32 transport barges. Air Transport The Naval Aerodrome just East of the Naval Base is also the place of landing for civil hydroplanes. The ordinary passenger traffic to Scandinavia and South­ ern Europe is directed via Kastrup Aerodrome which is con­ nected with the centre of the city by the Air Company’s motor omnibusses. ^
