The Port of Copenhagen

The Danish State own several icebreakers to assist vessels through Danish waters and in and out of Copenhagen and other Danish harbours. For this service a charge of ten 0 r e per net reg. ton is levied on every steamer and motor-ship over 100 tons net reg. when cleared in at Danish ports be­ tween December 15th—March 31st. A vessel calling several times at Danish ports in the same season is not liable to pay more than twice. Pilotage Rates If availed of, pilotage is charged according to the draught and gross tonnage of the vessel, the distance and the season. Towage Rates Rates per tug used for towing or assisting steamers and motorships range from Kr. 25 to Kr. 140 according to gross tonnage. Passage of bridges, assistance in Tuborg Harbour, Kalkbrsenderihavn and South Harbour, or service on Sun­ days, holidays or at night is charged extra. Towage of sailing- vessels is paid per 100 net reg. tons and according to distance towed. Fresh Water Rates Water is supplied from quay or boat at 1.40—2.00 and 2.25—2.75 Kr. respectively per ton. Stevedoring Rates Private stevedoring firms undertake stevedoring work in the Customs harbour. The tariff for this service may be obtained from the various companies. All stevedoring work in the Free Port is carried out by the Copenhagen Free Port Company at fixed rates, approved by the Government.
