CARLSON LLOVABLE LLAMAS TOUR Arrive at Carlson’s Llovable Llama Farm in rural Carver County. Their mission is to raise gentle, friendly llamas. Since they are highly alert and curious, they make excellent guards of sheep and other pasture animals. You will see the baby llamas and hear about individual adults. Taking llamas for a walk on the path is optional. They have yarn for sale and other items made from llama fiber. Leave the llama farm and stop at Lola’s Lakehouse Restaurant to wash up, enjoy the soup and sandwich special of the day and enjoy the view of Lake Waconia. Trip Pace: Light to Moderate SMARTLINK TRAVEL TRAINER Still trying to understand public transportation? Now is the time to learn as this trip is to familiarize participants with riding public transportation. We will meet at and take the bus from the Marschall Road Transit Center to the Mall of America. We will then transfer to the Blue Line (light rail) to downtown Minneapolis. We will take a walk across the Stone Arch Bridge and enjoy lunch at one of the St. Anthony & Main restaurants. MIA has seven curatorial areas: Arts of Africa & the Americas; Contemporary Art; Decorative Arts, Textiles & Sculpture; Asian Art; Paintings; Photography and New Media; and Prints and Drawings. Due to how large MIA is, we will be given a one- hour guided tour of its most popular collections with extra time for a self-guided tour. Then off to Calhoun Square for lunch at Famous Dave’s. MINNESOTA AIR NATIONAL GUARD The Minnesota Air National Guard Museum is home to historically significant aircraft and ancillary artifacts, historical documents, photographs and one of the largest displays of military aircraft in the five-state area. We will tour the museum’s 21-aircraft display (fighters, cargo planes, helicopters and utility aircraft used by the US military from pre-WWII to present day) and the hangars (displays of ejections seats, flight simulators, jet and piston engines, plus weaponry fromWWI to present day).
