SamNeill started Two Paddocks in 1993 with modest ambitions to produce a good Pinot Noir that would be enjoyed by family and friends. Although production is still limited, Sam now owns vineyards in all four major sub-regions of Central Otago (Bannockburn, Gibbston Valley, and the Cromwell and Alexandra Basins.) The estate Pinot Noir is a barrel selection of the older estate vineyard blocks that consistently produce some of the very best fruit. In years when the crew believe that the vineyards have produced an extraordinary expression of site, a small single vineyard offering is released: The First Paddock, The Last Chance and The Fusilier.
