As you eliminate the reasons your body thinks it needs to be fat, you’ll start los- ing weight faster and faster. When your body wants to be thin, it becomes very efficient at burning fat; it becomes a fat burn- ing machine. The thinner your body wants to be, the faster you will lose weight. For this reason, the rate at which you’re losing weight can actually accelerate right up to the very end. This is not to say that you will not experience plateaus. You should expect to reach some plateaus, but if you measure the rate at which you lose weight, over time you’ll find that you are losing weight faster. Once you have lost the weight you would like to lose, you’ll easily be able to maintain your ideal weight because there is no diet or program that you have been on that you will now want to discontinue; you haven’t been depriving yourself. You’ve just been transforming your body by making it want to be and need to be thin. In doing so, you’ll have acquired positive eating and lifestyle habits that will last a lifetime. Fast and Loose Another great reason to lose weight this way is that your skin will be tighter after the weight is gone. When you try to force yourself to lose weight quickly by crash dieting or surgery, you can end up with excessively loose skin. This is because the stress of forcing yourself to lose weight elevates your cortisol levels, and cortisol causes your skin to lose its elasticity. The Gabriel Method is a low-stress way to lose weight that helps lower your cortisol levels and keeps your skin as elastic as possible. The detoxifying, rejuvenating, and revitalizing aspects of my approach will also help your skin respond well to weight loss— as will visualization. In fact, everything about losing weight this way will help ensure that, after the weight is gone, your skin is healthier, more firm, vibrant, and elastic.
