Alcala Yearbook 2003

Letter Fro111 tlic &iitor

Sitting here surrounded by the mess that is the yearbook offi ce, I cannot he lp but fee l re li eved that another yearbook is fini shed. Thi s year has not gone as smoothl y as I would have hoped, but then aga in it was my first year as editor and I don' t think l rea li zed bac k in September what I was ge tting myse lf into. I have to admit that I will not mind cl os in g the door on thi s offi ce fo r a few months... Yet, despite the endl ess phone ca ll s, ema il s, and hours in front of a computer. I must say that it is a love- hate relati onship. and I know that I wi ll be right back here nex t year. I wouldn ' t know what to do with myse lf if I was n' t. Looking at the fin al stac k of layouts ready to send out, I rea li ze that without the help of certain indi– viduals I would be in thi s offi ce until May. First. I must thank my sister Coll een. I know that I cannot thank yo u enough. (J ust think of the morning before Winter Break... so111eti111 es I get stressed.) You have spent almost as much time in thi s office as I have and you have probabl y been given the wors t j obs. (Maybe you could crop the sport s team photos one more time?) l have apprec iated it a ll and I am so happy to have you wo rking with me. Nex t year I promise to make sure that you have a printer that works and maybe a littl e more cupboard space: we seem to be lac king that. Just think Co ll een. one more year and thi s will all be yo urs... I cannot fo rge t to thank Ke ll y Co los imo. I don' t know what I would do without my PR girl! You are amaz ing Kel, and I neve r doubt your abiliti es to make pi ctures miracul ously show up under the door. One more year to go Ke ll y! Whatever happened to those littl e Camino girls we use to know!? I must also thank Laura, Edi e, Rachele, and Johnny fo r all the hard work that they did. I rea ll y apprec iate it guys and l can onl y hope that you will come bac k on staff aga in nex t yea r! I cannot fo rge t Cassie, Lindsey, and Ni ck who have had to listen to me when I thought that thi s book was go ing to be fill ed with blank pages . I love you guys ! Nex t year Cass . you know that if you can' t find me I am trapped in the bottom of the UC where no ce ll phone will eve r ge t service. Ma ri ssa do not think that I have fo rgotten you. Thanks fo r the moral support across the mil es . You wa rned me what I was in fo r, but I went ahead with it anyway. I have to say that the office is not quite the same without our afternoon chats. The cupboards are empty and there is a lack of interes ting pi c– tu res. What I would give to di scuss the weekend (when we were suppose to be doing our reading) and then head off for c lass with Cl ausen. I hope that you are doing we ll in Denver, and if you ever mi ss thi s pl ace come ri ght bac k. Maybe we can even ge t Andrew to come down and te ll us a good story. I must also thank Ed Shoen. our Jostens representati ve, and Susan Payment. our advisor, for a ll of their help . It was my first year and I know that I was an endl ess source of ques ti ons, so thank you fo r your time and pati ence. I look fo rward to working with you both aga in nex t year. Thanks also goes to Vic Ni gro for doing such a terrifi c job with the seni or sec ti on. Th ank you fo r all of your work with the photography, layout, and proofing. I must also thank Brock Scott fo r hi s work with the sport s photos and Ted Goshen for hi s ass istance with the medi a guides. Thanks also goes to a ll those that contributed to thi s book. l must espec iall y thank Mari a Kammerze ll. the AS hi stori an. Mari a, you went above and beyond with all that you did to help me out. Thanks aga in for the pi ctures and all of your time. I hope that l have not forgotten anyone, and if I have, I apolog ize. l kn ow that the publi shing of thi s book is a group effort and that it could not have been accom– pli shed without the help of many. Once aga in , thank you everyone and for now I think l am go ing to cl ose the door on thi s windowl ess office .
