WHAT IS BLUE LIGHT? Blue light is one of the colours in the visible light spectrum that can be seen by human eyes. Due to its relatively short wavelengths blue light carries high amounts of energy which can be harmful to our eyes especially when it is artificial. The blue light wavelength ranges from 380- 500nm. Natural blue light is important for regulating our circadian rhythm (i.e. sleepwake cycle). Workers who are exposed to excessive amounts of harmful artificial blue light via bright LEDs, fluorescent lights, screens, and digital devices can suffer an overexposure that can cause digital eye strain, retina damage, and sleep cycle disruption.
