USO Athletie Depat•tment Dan Yourg Associate Director ofAthletics

Brian Fogarty Associate Director ofAthletics for Athletic Development Brian Fogarty enters his sixth year as USD' s Associate Director o f Athletics for Athl etic Deve l– opment. Associate Directorof Athletics Dan Yourg has been a member of the USO Athl etics Department si nce the fa ll of 1985.

Yourg oversees Football , Baseball, Men's bas– ketb all , Go lf, Men' s soccer, and Me n ' s and Women's tenni s. In addition, he is the department liaison to USD's Financial Aid Offi ce. Yourg re- ceived hi s Bac helor 's (Soc iology, 1980) and Master 's (Social Work, 1986) degrees from the University ofWisconsin, where he was a nose guard on the Badgers' football team. Dan and hi s wife Virginia, a USO alumnus, are the parents of three sons, John, Tom and Mike.

the Division Ill ranks to the NCAA I-AA level in 1993. His primary responsibilities are with fund raising, overseeing the Torero Athletic Association (TAA), and marketing and promotions for the athletic department. Brian res ides in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego and has four children: Bridget (a recent graduate of USD), Joe, Colleen (currently a sophomore soccer player at USO) and Megan.

Wendy Guthrie Associate Director ofAthletics/ Senior Woman Administrator Wendy enters her sixth year on the USO staff as the Associate Director of Athl etics and Senior Woman Adm ini strator. She will serve again this year as the Tournament Director fo r the WCC Basketball Championships that USO wi ll host in early March.

Ted Gosen Sports Information Director

Ted Gosen is in hi s 20th year serving as USD 's Director of Sports In formation. He oversees pub– licity and publications for all USO Athletics teams, in addition to hosting media at USO events . In 1981 Ted received his Master' s of Science degree in Sports Admini stration from St. Thomas Uni versity in Miami , Florida. A 1979 graduate of San Jose State Uni versity, he earned his Bachelorof

Guthrie is a 1991 graduate of Whittier Co llege (B.A. in Business Ad– ministration) where she competed on the Cross Country and Track & Field teams. A three-time team MVP, Guthrie was also a two-year team captain and earned I s ' Team All-SCIAC recognition in Cross Country and Track & Field. She earned her Master's in Physical Educati on with a concentration in Ath– letic Administration at Springfield Co llege in Massachusetts. After Spri ng– fie ld, she held the position ofAssistant Director ofAthletics/SWA at St. Francis College in Pennsylvan ia. Wendy ga ined experi ence working with the Colo– rado Sports Counci l and the U.S. O lympic Committee at the 1994 U.S . O lym– pic Festival in St. Loui s, Missouri and was the Director of Awards Ceremo– nies/Special Events Manager for the Torch Run at the 1995 U.S . Olympic Festival in Denver, also working the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta.

Renee Wiebe is in her fi fth year as Ass istant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Promotions. She is in charge of all marketing aspects for the athleti c department, coordinates game-day and sea– son long promotions and solicits and mai ntains cor– porate partnerships. She also directs special events, advertising, and game entertainment. This past year

Carolyn Greer enters her twenty-fourth year as the Head Certifi ed Athletic Trai ner for the Univer– sity of San Diego athletic department. She is ass isted by Suzi Higgins and Paul Signorelli . A 1975 graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Phys ica l Educa– tion, Carolyn went on to earn her Master' s in Sports

she impl emented new programs for the athletic department whi ch included the athl etic merchandi sing program and the Torero Kids Club. Wiebe over– sees commun ity outreach programs like the Inner-Ci ty Games Days, G irl Scout Nights and Elementary School Programs. She is also involved with an– nual fund ra ising events for the Sports Banquet, Go lf Class ic and Hall of Fame. Her prev ious experience in athl etics was at the Uni versity of North– ern Iowa where she was Marketing and Promotions Director from 1993-95. Pri or to that she was Promoti ons Assistan t at the Uni versity o f Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Journali sm-Broadcast Sequence from the Univer– sity of Mi ssouri-Columbia in May, 199 1. She went on to earn her Masters of Education wi th an emphas is in Sports Admini strati on from Wichita State Uni– versity in August, 1993.

Over the years she has taught classes in Sports Medic ine and had numerous articles published in a variety of j ournals. She oversees sixteen intercollegiate teams and approx imately 390 US O student-athl etes on a yearly basis. The Sports Medicine staff provides injury prevention, immedi ate care and rehabi litation for USD' s interco llegiate athletes. Caro lyn, and her husband Je ff, reside in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego with thei r two boys, Dav id and Jason.
